GRANNY ISN´T HERE ANYMORE....
I had been looking at this house for many times when passing by. It´s mustardy colors seemed odd but somehow beautiful. I got a permission to go in. She and I went for a little escapade which name was Little Yellow Riding Hood...

The LITTLE VIOLINIST
Sometimes I shoot a little story with the children. I´m drawn to old abandoned houses and their spooky atmosphere arouses my imagination. To this lovely coloured house I went with my youngest, to have a little play about a girl who has been sent to an old house to pay a birthday visit. The outer door is open and she gets to the veranda but doesn´t find anybody...
Often the mood is somehow melancholy, I don't know why. The combo of the long, ended life of a big house and a fresh innocence of a child, is tense and exciting...

The GOLDEN HOUR
These few pics were taken just in the end of the golden hour and the soft light coming from the horizon really feels and shows, although it isn´t very warm anymore at this time of the year. In Finland we have a lot of light during spring and summer but the fall is really a fall to a long and dark winter. If you´re interested in shooting in natural light, getting to know the golden hour is crucial to you. Meaning using the softest and warmest natural light there is. There are many sites and apps for to calculate it for you (http://www.golden-hour.com) but all in all the golden hour means the time approximately an hour after the sunrise and an hour before the sunset.
Model here is my youngest daughter Inkeri, here four years old.

My CHILD PHOTOGRAPHY
is the type of photography I´ve done for years. I started out with photographing my sisters children (who are grown ups now!) and went on with my own kids. Nowadays two of them are old enough to pose for me, like my first born here, but also my baby, now four years old, is so used to having me around with my camera that they have started to show some interest to photographing themselves. But for the last year, since I started takin´ this more seriously, they have learned what photo shoots mean! I´m mostly into on-location photography when photographing people and since I have the most beautiful models right here, we have taken some shooting trips near here, just for practice and for fun! Of course some of the shootings have been boring, according to children but for me, they have reminded what directing children is (my background is in children´s tv-production). And it´s all about them having fun. Because they don´t fake. And if they do, you surely see it in your pics. So make make an effort, get to know your little model, at least the bit that you can make them laugh and that they are comfy enough to make a little conversation with you. And that they are not tired or hungry or too bored. Take short sessions and long sugary breaks. And have fun - that´s how you go far with them.
The photographs are my test shots with Olympus OM-D E-5.
My first born as my model and the location is in the city centre of Tampere, next to an old abandoned hospital.
